CLE REQUIREMENTS

Newly admitted attorneys must complete 32 credit hours of accredited “transitional” education within the first two years of admission to the Bar. 16 credit hours must be completed in each of the first two years of admission to the Bar as follows: 3 hours of Ethics and Professionalism; 6 hours of Skills; 7 hours of Practice Management and/or areas of Professional Practice.

Experienced Attorneys must complete 24 credit hours of CLE during each biennial reporting cycle: 4 credit hours must be in Ethics and Professionalism. The other credit hours may be in combination of the following categories: Ethics and Professionalism, Skills, Practice Management or areas of Professional Practice.

Be sure to plan arrivals carefully. Pursuant to New York State CLE Requirements, partial credit for programs will not be awarded.

All Attorneys who attend Rockland County Bar Association seminars and complete the blue evaluation form will receive certificates of attendance. It is the responsibility of each attorney to maintain records of CLE seminars to certify compliance as part of their biennial registration.

Hardship Policy:

The RCBA will waive the CLE seminar admission fee for those individuals with an annual household income of $50,000 or less. Please call the Association at 845-634-2149 for an application one week prior to the seminar, explaining the basis of your hardship. You will be required to submit a written affirmation setting forth the highest tuition you can afford to pay and your total household income.

The following guidelines will be applied:

Unemployed will receive a Full scholarship.
Income up to $35,000 will receive a 75% discount.
Income $35,000 to $50,000 will receive a 50% discount.
Income above $50,000 will not receive a discount.
